Story:
This was developed in Illinois by a husband/wife team – Merlyn and Mary Ann Niedens. One of it’s parents was Italian Heirloom – a favorite of mine.
Illini Star is a wonderful little workhorse of a tomato. It is a lovely deep red in color with fruit about 6-8 oz in weight. They have good disease and crack resistance and better yet, have a really good sweet flavor. Starts pretty early and has wonderful production. It is great for both canning and fresh eating.
