Large Red Cherry

Yes, it is just what the name says – a large red cherry. Fruit are almost 2” in size with a wonderful old time flavor. I really like these. Very productive and just keep on producing lots of fruit until killed by frost. They are wonderful fresh but also work great in sauces and even for canning whole. Flesh is nice and firm and holds well.

Story:

An heirloom from the 19th century, it comes from the Ben Quisenberry collection of heirloom tomatoes. Mr. Quisenberry, an expert seed saver and farmer, dedicated his life to preserving heirloom vegetables from extinction.

1966 Burrells' Seed Catalog Says about large red cherry tomato:
"Attractive, high quality the size of a half dollar. Extensively used for eating fresh and in salads. A good home garden variety and is now very popular with Western growers for marketing in berry boxes. Vigorous plants produce heavily over a long period."
