Story:
From Tatiana’s TOMATObase:
A commercial variety from Moravoseeds, Czechoslovakia. The name means 'The Wonder from Moravia'. As some Russian seed vendors stated on their websites, this is one of the strains of Stupice tomato, Stupické polní rané. This information was also confirmed by a representative of Moravoseed company.
The name change is not surprising, as it is much more catchy than 'Stupice' or 'Stupicke', and (unfortunately) seed sales in Russia is all about marketing and profits, and not about historical accuracy or proper attribution to breeders. Introduced to North American gardeners and SSE members by Andrey Baranovski of Minsk, Belarus in 2008. First offered in Seed Savers 2009 Yearbook by Carolyn Male of Salem, New York (NY MA C).
